Dude, Where's My Muse?

Tuesday, April 24, 2007

Its one of those titleless, rambling posts because I don't have a lot to say. Great game between Dallas and Canucks tonight and 'nucks won, moving on to the second round. Woohoo!! Luongo made some great saves to keep them in the game and I have to say I loved loved loved the two open net goals at the end. Kevin Bieksa might just be my new favorite hockey player, he really impressed me in the first round.

Other than hockey, not a lot going on. Got a cute new tank top at costco on Sunday. Thinking I should have picked up two, I got the purple but I also liked the red and it fits really nice so... put it on the shopping list for next wknd I guess.

Blah Blah

Wide awake right now. Had an upset tummy tonight for awhile. Watched three hockey games (or 2 and a half) tonight. Pittsburgh's out, kinda sad. Wished Georges could have played more and watching Sidney play for awhile longer would have been nice, but Mike and co. are on to the second round. Calgary beat Detroit to even the series *woohoo!* and Canucks lost to Dallas :( With a win tonight they would have knocked the stars out and moved to the second round. Hoping they do that Saturday. Not a big Stars fan.

Toying with two stories right now, I forgot to print a few things off earlier so editing off hard copy isn't working and the new idea gave me one of the big scenes so had to get that down before I lost it.

Tried to do some video work tonight on some of my captured tv shows. The audio was out of sync so I downloaded a trial program. Fixed the audio up, but now pinnacle studio won't convert/edit the new file. Which is a little worrying. I'd like to burn the files to dvd and get some disc space back.

No big plans for the weekend. Its SNOWING here (argh!) so probably stay inside and warm and watch more hockey and catch up on my editing.

Magic

Some of you might know about the hairpulling bout of writers block I've had lately. Its been pretty bad with this ms. Every few chapters the brick wall comes up and I've been forced to slam on the brakes.

As of Monday afternoon though I've ploughed through the brick wall full speed ahead. Kinda easily too. So what changed?

MUSIC.

I've talked before about having soundtracks for each project. I had Golden Years blaring through my earphones when I printed off STTA to go to London a couple years ago. The first draft of this torture was written to a soundtrack. But for editing, revisions, I've been working in silence.

And that's when the bricks began showing up.

Weird. Apparently my muse detests the silence.

But soon as I put on one of my old Cher cds for inspiration Monday, the fog's cleared. The next handful of chapters are mapped out. I've bridged the first third of the story to what's happening in the next third, I just need a few fresh scenes and it should be full steam ahead to my favorite words of all, THE END.

Playing In The Dirt

Can you tell from the title what I did yesterday? :o)

It was finally a little warmer, so I took out a couple window boxes, filled them with dirt and put some of my new bulbs in. Was a little surprised to see them starting to grow already in the plastic bag lol But they're planted now and if it stays nice hopefully they'll break through sometime next week.

Found the marigold seeds I'd been searching for at Home Depot so grabbed those. Saw some black pansy seeds which I'll have to go back for.

Otherwise, I'm still tired from staying up til 2 to watch the canucks-dallas overtime from Wednesday night. Still working on the story that never ends. New idea still lurking in the back of my brain, doing all sorts of mean things to get my attention lol.

Snow Day

Its snowing.

If I had a pretty digital camera I'd take a shot out the window for you. And its not the nice dry snow either. Its the wet, sticking type that almost makes you trip when you go outside to check the mail. Almost fell twice, once on the steps and once going over the fence.

I'm SO ready for it to be spring. Really. The seeds are sitting near the desk, waiting to be sorted into what's going into a pot together. Which ones need to be replenished. Which ones I don't really plan on using this year... but see, for me to plant, the snow needs to go buh-bye. I have it on good authority Bailey *waves* likes snow, she can have all of it that's supposed to fall between now and Sunday. Go, enjoy! :o)

In writing news, *sigh* not much to report. Story that shall not be named continues to go on and on... and did I say on? And there's a new character who showed up on the weekend, a very talkative character... she's going to have to go to the back of the line. And be careful of Harley, she's not used to her fangs, she could bite unexpectantly.

Soon Dax and Raven are forced together as pawns in a madman’s scheme. From the heart of Cuba to the New York art world, they find themselves in a race against time to stop the ultimate revenge.

So Little Time

So it seems.

Friday I felt good enough to get out of the house for awhile. Picked up an easter present for dad, bought some chocolate, couple books (Amanda Quick's SECOND SIGHT which I'm quickly devouring and Heather Grothaus' THE CHAMPION) and found a couple t-shirts since most of mine are getting pretty craptacular.

Saturday was a blur of nothingness. Didn't watch the habs game, but ha ha, they're out.

Did watch the Isles game today. Woohoo on them being in the playoffs. Go Smytty Go! And Bergie, and Poti and DiP if he's back soon. Amazing shootout. So glad for them. They deserve it.

Which makes me liking 4 out of the 8 teams in the East - Ottawa (Mikey); Pittsburgh (Sid & Georges); NYI (see above + jason blake) and Tampa (Vinnie and St. Louis.) The west is easier. I like my Canuck boys. :o) The Sedins and Sopes and Cookie and Luongo. I think I saw a tv schedule in my inbox. Funny, I wasn't all that excited about hockey the other day but now that its playoff time again, that seems to have changed. I'll have to schedule writing/blogging around hockey again *g*

New idea struck the other night. At 3 am, and it kept repeating in my head loud enough to make me sit up turn on the light and write it down. 3 pages double sided, so we'll see where it fits in the mix of things later. It'd be a shorter one though, which is a HUGE relief than the never ending story that's plaguing me now.

Hope everyone had a nice easter!

Bad Blogger

That would be me.

But I do have a good excuse for not blogging the last few days. Saturday the cough from h-e-double hockey sticks returned. And I was relegated to surviving on tylenol cough syrup (yuck that stuff is horrible) then some kind soul took pity on me and bought me mcd's for supper.

Sunday brought the back and chest pain which made me think I was ready to keel over at any minute. And the discovery this morning of a swollen inflamed disc in my back that made leaning back in any chair VERY painful. So as you can see, its been a delightful weekend.

Add in the trips to Wal-Mart and Zellers that failed to produce anything I wanted to read. I wallowed and bought myself a little back of hershey chocolate bars and proceeded to pass out on the couch last night watching amazing race while trying to remember to breathe. Ah the fun.

So that's why I'm wide awake at 1:30 am working on one of the ms. Though I think a chunk of writer's block cleared, so happy about that. Should return to blogging a little more often this week.

How's the month starting off for you?
