Hot Read

SEX & THE IMMORTAL BAD BOY

by Stephanie Rowe

release: November 2007

IF THE ROAD TO HELL IS PAVED WITH GOOD INTENTIONS...

Paige Darlington is finally free of the literal boss from hell—Satan. There's just one hitch: she's been cursed, and will soon lose her soul. The only way to reverse this ultimate buzz kill is to skinny dip in one of Heaven's cleansing moats. But Heaven has defenses against girls like Paige…and they typically in

volve being charred to a crisp.

MAYBE THE ROAD TO HEAVEN IS PAVED WITH SEXY ONES.

Jed Buchanan, shadow warrior and Satan Jr.'s favorite assassin, is on a fast track to hell. Until sexy, spirited former Rivka Paige Darlington begs him to help her sneak past the pearly gates. Heaven's no place for a man as dark as Jed, but one look at Paige's sensual eyes and long legs and he knows one thing for sure – he's in for a hell of a hot ride…

~~~
I loved this book! Stephanie Rowe creates a wholly unique world, populated by some of the funniest characters I've ever read.
Paige has been alive only a month, but its been a busy one. She's finally won her freedom from hell, but there's one little thing her ex-boss forgot to mention. Anything she touches dies, a talent that doesn't make things easy for the former Rivka. The only way to save herself from crossing a hundred percent to the dark side is to get to Heaven and the cleansing moat. But that's easier said than done, especially when she dusts the first angel she meets.
Then she meets Jed, the only person it seems she can touch without harming them. But will he help her or betray her in order to save his brother?
A great paranormal read, especially on Halloween!
Girly glitter comments from www.GirlyTags.com
Sorry for the lack of blogging. Spent some of the wknd doing yard work (had to dump out some pots that the flowers had gone, still have 3 left that are happily blooming! *g*) and enjoying a little bit of warm, sunny weather. More books for review arrived this week, which I'm totally not complaining but yikes my TBR pile is getting seriously high!!! Look for some book blogs on here in the near future as well. Gotta talk books somewhere :o)
Writing's going... I want to hit send on the requests for fulls this week. I'd like to thank mercury retrograde for losing several chapters a couple times, but at least I edited on hard copy this time so all I have to do is finish typing things up.
Anybody have any plans for Halloween?
I'm taping Criss Angel's ep tonight and having a mini marathon tomorrow with the DVDs, ordering in pizza and hitting a couple of the chats going on tomorrow night. Don't think I'm stuck with door duty this year *happy dance*
S'up
I can tell Mercury was in retrograde this month. I had enough disappearing chapters, emails, print outs and everything else to make me think I was either a) going bonkers thinking I had something in the first place or b) the most unorganized person on Earth (nevermind my dad would vote for that one lol)
In writing news, making good progress this week. Another partial emailed off to an NYC agency this morning. With any luck, the fulls follow Wednesday at the latest. I have to double check the formats, since I know one wanted it as an rtf file. I'm so glad I'm able to email in the requests as opposed to mailing them, because lately mail is not exactly cooperating with me.
Was up early this morning trying to get tickets for me and dad to go see Sidney Crosby play the Oilers as his early Christmas present. Yeah. Good luck Chuck. No tickets. And I had the page loading exactly at 10am, searching best available. I'm sure the season ticket holders snapped them all up. :o( Oh well, I'm just hoping i can get seats to see the Isles play here for my birthday in January. I wanna see Mikey and DiP!
Hitting Head On Keyboard
The title pretty well sums up my weekend and most of today. It seems that some of the scenes I've revamped for my edits have gone MISSING. As in nowhere. Not in my yahoo mail backups which send every ten minutes. Not in my actual file folders. Not in the writing binder. Not anywhere. Just basically vanished. Picture much hair pulling over the situation.
In other news, I'm not fond over my mail delivery lately. Some packages I'm expecting are not arriving. Like ones from July...August...September... my Sept 30th ehq order... not to mention one or two from March & April. So I need to find the guy to call at the post office and complain to again. We complained once earlier this year when January & Feb stuff wasn't showing up. But now, its getting annoying. And its really awkward to send people emails with 'hey, uhm did you ever mail X? B/c it never arrived'
Off to do another search for the missing scenes
Progress
Never underestimate the power of BICHOK, after six hours yesterday and a couple today I think I have a semi full synopsis. Its sitting in one of my lovely CPs inbox waiting to see what she says. I can't believe I drew a complete blank on how to write one. I even dug through my old workshop I'd taken last year and listened to one of the RWA workshops on writing one. Hopefully it makes enough sense that I can call it done and hit send on the partial.
(Do you think I can count the 1980 words towards Sven? *g*)
In good news, books in the mail today! LUSH by Sasha White and MURDER ON NOB HILL by Shirley Tallman. Can't wait to dig into them, but I've got so many ahead in the TBR pile, not too mention about 3 I still need to review...
Which I don't think I ever mentioned *g* I am the YA Director over at Enchanting Reviews. So if you like Young Adult or read Young Adult or maybe even want to review Young Adult swing by the website www.enchantingreviews.com or our myspace www.myspace.com/enchantingya
We're up to 85+ friends in under 2 weeks and I'd love to hit a 100 before the end of the month.
A Postie
Since I'm stuck in synopsis HELL -- which honestly has never happened before. I sailed through my synops for STTA and HP and even Sabrina's. But this one, hair pulling. Its like I have no clue how to write one. Its so bad, I'm even thinking of ignoring the request that wants one *looks around nervously* Seriously.
Anyways, since I'm signed up for NaNo & Sven (of which I'm starting on the wknd, this week is devoted to that which shall not be named) let's talk writing.
Its amazing what listening to a CD can do. I bought 2 on the weekend, the Mindfreak soundtrack because I *heart* Criss Angel and his musical goodness and the new Kid Rock (of which I got the last copies. talk about happiness!!) Yesterday I sailed through 4 chapters of edits, with Sugar and Lowlife (Living The High Life) playing...er, okay blaring with me singing along off key. It would have been five, but I need a rewrite on one scene. I even managed to put in a scene I loved but scrapped earlier. It fits pretty well. :o) With any luck, I'll get the rewrite done today and get past the next hunk of chapters standing between me and rewriting the two prettiest words in history THE END.
Do you listen to music when you write or do you prefer silence? Do you notice a jump in production when you switch music?
I'm In
In either a case of pure insanity, hopeless optimism or a heavy overdose of liquid tylenol (yuck!) I signed up for another Sweating With Sven challenge AND NaNoWriMo.
*looks around nervously*
So that means a whole lot of new words between now and er, January? I can't remember the end date on Sven. But I know I've kicked some NaNo butt the last 2 years and am actually looking forward to it. Only time of the year you can actually find working chats going on daily! :o)
So am I the only one who's gone bonkers or is anyone else doing one or both of these?
My goal is a brand spanking new YA novel at the end of NaNo and maybe some progress on an old Urban Fantasy idea. I've got 100 pages of handwritten pages, even if I get those typed up I'll call it major progress.
Bit of good news
The not so great news first, I did something to my neck on the weekend which has resulted in a lot of pain. NOT FUN!! Hoping it goes away soon. Until then, I guess I'll be doped up on tylenol.
Now onto the delightful news of the day, an agent with the partial of CS requested the FULL. Yes that's right, the whole entire thing. Picture me doing an extreme happy dance without the neck movements. Since I have a few little adjustments to make to said full, I will be in my edit cave this week, complete with loud rock music, dr pepper and if someone loves me, lowfat brownies from sobeys. :o)
Its a Blah Day
Or at least it feels like it. I'm very happy its the Centre Ice Preview so I can watch some Sidney hockey tonight, that ought to perk me up a little.
Heard back from one agent with the partial, she passed. *sigh* At least she was quick about it. I think she had it about ten days. So one partial still out, one to send and the full to get out as well. Must remember that.
Watched the Oilers game last night. Roly was good. Great goal in shoot-out by Stolly. And a nice scrap with Raffi. So I at least like about six guys on the team. Agreed with the guy on sportsnet who said you can't tell a player without a program. :)
October
It just hit me its now 3 months to my birthday. Uhm, yeah. Weird. This year has pretty well flown by, especially since hockey season starts uhm, today or tomorrow or something like that. I actually haven't been paying that much attention since fave hockey player #1 went to the Swiss League. I'm sure I'll get more into hockey when I turn on the TV and see it in front of me :o)
In other fun news, my asters are NOW opening. I planted them end of June. Oh well, they're a gorgeous lavendar color so I'm hoping they around long enough for me to grab a couple pictures of them (not to mention some seeds!)
Writing-wise, things are the same as they were last week. Partials out. Still typing up the rest of the full, which thanks to word being screwy is taking longer than expected. Still some queries out I haven't heard back on yet. If anyone's querying and you queried Knight Agency lately, any idea what the response time on q's is? I hit a month on the 7th.
