Happy Day...

So I hit 85K last night on Sabrina, at 2:oo a.m got a fragmented version of the opening scene (I think it could be good!) and finally figured out how to print the map of the palms. Woohoo.

In other writing news, for those of us who follow agent blogs, Kristin Nelson's decided to blog.
http://pubrants.blogspot.com/

And speaking of blogs, I signed up for ehar's 100 book challenge this year. If your interested in seeing what's all in the tbr pile and what's already been done, go by book buzz and check out the drop down menu. Its under Lissy :o)

Guess that's about all for now.

A thought

So this has been on my mind for awhile. And when is it not a good time for writerly babble? Especially on a writer's blog :o)
Anyways, in working chat this afternoon I had a thought. Why is it so hard for us writers to go in and revise, cut out and edit our stuff? I'm having a huge time of it with Sabrina and its opening. I still don't quite know where the story's gonna pick up, whether at that point she knows of her gift yet or not...but every bit that's there its hard to look at and go this just doesn't work. Why? Why the heck am I so attached to something I know isn’t right for the story. That though it would advance the story forward just doesn’t point blank FEEL right? And why the heck doesn’t the right part come around the first time?
I’m not cutting anything out yet, I just keep adding to the file waiting for the right bit of inspiration to strike with the right thought, the right scene that’ll make me go ah-ha! And make all the editing SO much more easier to handle.
So to the writing muses out there, I’d like a brand spanking new opening that feels right to me. Oh and a timeline that’d be great!!

Update From Crazy-ville

Crazyville is where it feels like I am right now.

I spent 10 hours yesterday watching the Barrett-Jackson auction on speed for research for the next story idea. I've got about 2 pages of notes. Narrowed my car of choice down to the Shelby and the Corvettes though I don't mind a nice Austin Healy either...and I'm still no further along on Sabrina. Its that old feeling of I'm rewriting the same old scene over and over again and nothing is moving this baby forward.

Which isn't good when I've got that query itch waiting to be scratched. Not too mention that would require a blurb and a synopsis. *sigh* And I haven't heard back from NC on the partial of STTA either.

In other news, watched the end of the Coyotes-Oilers game last night. SO wished Mikey would have scored in the shootout. But they wound up winning anyways, but really would have liked to have seen him get the goal. So yay Phoenix on that one!

Since Nell picked me for this, that means my rambling post about men and what good are they will have to be postponed (listening for cheers and whistles)

4. write erotica lol
5. forgive easily
6. gargle
7. parallel park

Seven words or phrases I say most often.

The Writerly Blahs...

I'm not sure if its the weather, the mid book slump or what, but I'm definitely in the throes of a writerly blah day. (Let's not blame this on that pesky insomnia! On the good side of that though, I did finish off 2 books and start a regency which I'm really enjoying)

Sabrina isn't exactly interesting me at this moment. Two a.m brought some new thoughts, which just may work. Though I need to email someone *eeks* and hope she's kind enough to answer a few research questions for me. Crossing my fingers on that one. I still have 50 some odd pages that need a home somewhere in the story. Need to take a GOOD look at my timeline and play with it a little. So far seems the first half is the dates and then her dealing with the mess that's been created in her midst. Not sure that totally works or not.

And away from Sabrina, I have two other story ideas perculating. Which at the moment seem FAR more interesting (I'm blaming that on the Blahs above). One I'm gonna need to do some research for and the other, the research could come next wknd. The second I thought seemed like a romance but now its suddenly going a complete other way and lending itself to a bombshell idea. Not that i mind, I love the line anyways and have a couple half completed ideas (not completely my fault, requests for others came in and took over, leaving S & R sadly abandoned)

While watching Hitch the other night, my dad turns to me and goes "Any story ideas yet?" Gee thanks dad, like I don't have enough already. *insert eye roll here* Though it did prompt a few thoughts that could work in an old ms.

A quick plea to the hockey gods before hitting post, if the Isles do make a trade, please oh please, west coast team, west coast team :o)

Works For Me

2006: A Yearly Look
Capricorn: You first since it is your birthday month. Caps have the publishing planet (Jupiter) in their House of Dreams and Wishes . The Big Sale, Acquisition, or Merger is more likely in '06 than in any year in the last 10. I've seen true miracles ( pinnacles at least) happen with this house position, so expect the best outcome in all your ventures. Congratulations in advance.

Sabrina...

Quick update, just hit 70K on Sabrina. Apparently those pages in the binder were WAY more than I thought, taking me to 68 this afternoon. I'll push through to the wknd, hope to hit 80 then print it out and as Nell said, do adits. I know there's a few rather gaping, glaring plot holes (uhm opening anyone? Black moment? Possible ending? lol) but maybe reading through it start to finish will help.

In other news, nothing much else. Still no word on the two agent partials. Wondering if the one to NYC ever did get delivered. A little nervous to email and ask for a status update. But I guess if it didn't get there, I can make a claim to the post office and try to send it out again.

Had a bit of an idea hit for another MX wanna be, but I lost the best opening line somewhere between last night and this morning. Fingers crossed it comes back in some sort of form.

Happy Birthday To Me...

*blows noisemaker*

So Happy Birthday to me.
As usual, it had more low points then high points. Why is that?
*sigh*
Let's see, the high points were that some of my Xmas gifts arrived from friends. It was a WWE day for a fan like me to be quite happy with. Got the HBK Shawn Michaels book, Cena wristband and EG armband from one of my good friends in the states. And another sent me a complete surprise, another WWE book. So wasn't expecting that. And to top it off, miracle of miracle, the world junior tournament didn't go long and stretch into Raw so I was able to watch the full version unlike last night. :o) Woohoo, happiness is HBK & John Cena in one night let me tell you!

Low points, erm, parents mostly. But they made up for those four hours later on at dinner.

Thankies to all who sent emails and birthday cards :o) You helped add to the high points!
