Switching Gears...

Thanks to an email from Olga *waves* I think I'm switching gears. Instead of querying Sab to agents, I might reverse things and start sending it to editors. See if that gets any better results. I had what I thought was a good thing happen a few weeks back, an agent said the idea had merit but wasn't for her so she'd forward it on, but I haven't heard anything back. So see what I end up doing next month.

And in a fun note, its only 2 days until the premiere of HOUSE OF CARTERS. Should be good. I've seen bits and pieces of the first episode online, so be nice to see the whole thing (and figure out who the two shih tzus belong to. I'm thinking Angel?)

If the weather holds out this week I won't be posting much, have to help dad finish painting a few more windows

Most wonderful time of the year...

No not back to school.
Not Christmas.
NHL preseason hockey, which means the real thing is JUST around the corner :o) *I'm humming the goal song as I type this*
And even better, Dallas finally got their team pictures updated, so I present to you the only reason I watch DS hockey -
on defense...
So the guy gets a lot of bad press since he was dealt from the Oilers. The Isles didn't like him (Uhm, yeah he's an offensive defenseman, you wanted a defensive d-man and you played the trap and he's a skater. No wonder he didn't fit) So far I don't see the Big D (for Dallas, not d-man) being a better fit. Not playing him in Edmonton, big boo in my book.
And yeah, now he's fighting for a spot on the team. I'd still like to see him back in an Oiler uniform :)

Question for the writers out there. As an unpubbed, how do you market yourself or your work? I'm curious to see how to do this.

Fall Season

Means the new tv shows are starting. I've caught a few this week, even 2 I didn't think I'd watch. Anyone see MEN IN TREES? I love it. Its about a relationship coach who ends up in Alaska in a town where the men out number the women 10-1. There she finds out over the phone her fiance is seeing another woman and decides to stay. There's a lot of funny scenes and good dialogue. Hope it sticks around for awhile.

Caught 'Dancing With The Stars' on Tuesday. Didn't really want to watch it but I did. Like Joey (though the hairlessness is hard to get used to); Mario's good and so is Emmitt. Vivica should make it pretty far. And I will be very happy when Willa (oh look bottom 3! *g*) leaves. Do not like that chick.

And saw a bit of Psych last night. From the blurb I didn't think it was going to be as funny as it was. A guy pretends to be psychic to work on cases with the police and ends up starting his own private psychic detective business. Looks like a funny show.

Still waiting for CSI & the Miami version to start, along with HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER; Gilmore Girls; Desperate Housewives and a few others (and Las Vegas is the last show to premiere...boo!!)

Oh yeah and a little thing called hockey season starts soon WOOHOO!! though how long does it take for teams to update their websites with the new player pics?? Eh???

So any new shows you've seen and want to recommend or bash? :o)

Mish Mash

Of rambles.

So BB7 - ALL STAR edition ended tonight. The final two were not who I would have picked, Janelle and Will deserved to be there, or even just one of them with Boogie, but Erica? Her biggest claim to fame this go around was talking Janelle into booting Will. (boo!! That's when the show lost its entertainment factor) I taped it to watch later since I missed some of the first part of where the jury was talking to the two houseguests still in the house. Did love that it was 6-1 vote, strictly on game play you really did have to go with Mike over her.

Now that BB is over for the year, my other fave Reality TV show is soon to start. Amazing Race :) Should be another good year. Just saw too one channel up here is rerunning the earlier editions. Good time waster. :D And who can forget the most annoying edition ever, the FAMILY edition. I still get chills thinking about the most annoying team of all.

But we're getting closer to the big tv excitement that is the NHL season. Since at the moment I lack the funds for centre ice (sniffle sniffle) I'm just glad TSN is putting the Stars game on tv on opening night! Looking forward to that. :o) The rest I'll have to listen to online, but hey at least I can still follow the team...er the players anyways I like, since my fave players are now seriously scattered. Dallas Stars; Phoenix Coyotes and Potsi is now an Islander and Bert's a Panther.

In writing news, not much going on. Lost the joy in writing I think for awhile, since no black moment seems to exist in the one wip I'm reading through old fanfic and realizing how I love the angst factor *g* something that's obviously been missing from my manuscripts. May have to go back to it.

Question for the writers out there, when querying, do you compare your voice or your manuscript to another writer? I haven't done that before, but some people (including a recent workshop) recommended doing that. Which is where my lack of broad reading comes in, because who the heck do I sound like lol So if you have an answer to any one of these, do post in the comments and let me know :)
And thanks to all who voted at contest junkies. Both my entries are done now, so if you missed them, you can still go take a read of 'Vegas Whisperer' and 'Something To Talk About'

Walking The Plank

Is what I did about half hour after I woke up this morning. I've been painting this week and went outside to see dad erected a plank along the kitchen baywindow for me to paint. Fun. *feel the sarcasm* 2 pieces of wood over a couple sawhorses do not make a scaffold in my mind. So there I was, whiteknuckling the edge of one window while painting the other. Don't think I've ever painted so fast in my life. Then add in the fun moment when i realized I had to let go of the side to hit the top... *cringe* But since I'm writing this, I lived through it, but hovering on two pieces of wood over the flower bed and about twenty wasps/hornets (which I'm allergic too btw) does not make a fun way to spend the morning.

Sorry I've been incommunicado the last while, been painting like crazy outside lately. So if I owe you an email or a chapter back, it could be a few days :o)

Writers Toolbox

A friend of mine is asking for a little research help. What tools do you need as a writer? Like actual writing tools, pens, ect. So if you could make your own writer toolbox, what would it hold?

And reminder as always, take a peek at contestjunkies.com if you haven't yet and take a moment to vote.

Hope everyone's having a lovely long weekend!

Things I Hate

Its now 1:20 a.m. and I'm wide awake. Why? Because there's a group of drunken people on the road behind the house having a good ol' party time of screaming, hooting, hollering and making some dog around here go crazy.

I wish to high heaven they'd move on down the street. Not that I'm tired perse, I just want peace and quiet in case I do try to fall asleep, not the partying sounds of a group of drunken jackasses.

I now return you to your normal blog reading.

Blah Blah

I can't think of a decent blog title.

I've had horrible headaches for the last two days and barely touched the computer yesterday at all. So if I owe you an email, you'll get a reply soon. Between that and the desktop not wanting to boot, fun fun fun.

And to top it off I just realized on a query I sent out, I forgot to put the agency name. Yeah I'm with it today all right.

Quick reminder, go vote at contestjunkies.com new entries are up this week :o) And you only have a few more weeks left to vote. Some nice ones up this week.
