Summer

Well it officially feels like summer here. Its been in the mid 20s and 30s, my plants are budding out, the thumbelina zinnias are opening. Had to transplant my bachelor buttons which were outgrowing the window box I had them in so now they're in the garden.

Tomorrow I'm going to a wedding. The weather should be nice for it. And as of yesterday I officially have something to wear :o) Woohoo. I had a heck of a time trying to find something. Three different malls and I finally found the first dress I liked on sale at almost half off. So I'm happy.

Hope everyone has a good wknd!

A contest...

Sponsored by the great Jo Leigh! :o)

Closer…by
Jo Leigh

A stalker has ruined Christie Pratchett’s life. He’s stolen her job, her friends and her freedom. The police can’t help, nor can the FBI. Now with a single call for help, it’s all up to ex-Delta Force Boone Ferguson.

Boone lives under the radar…with a secret that could cost him big. But he’s going to train Christie to become a warrior princess — and his lover. Together they’re going to risk it all, on the street — and in the bedroom.

Here's how I'll run the contest, you can answer either of these two questions. First one, if you've read Jo Leigh's books, what's your favorite and why, and if you haven't, tell me why you want to win this one.

I'll draw on Sunday to make it fair :o)

Today

Is the 4th anniversary of the day I lost my best bud, my muse, my little furball H.B.K.

So in loving memory, he gets today's post dedicated to him.

How I Spent Father's Day

Not how I thought I would.

Anyways, I wake up at about 10 this morning to mom saying something about birds outside and I can't make out the rest through the door. So I get up and go downstairs and she says go outside and see what dad has.
Okay.

Go outside and find dad with two little baby birds in his hand. Apparently they fell out of their nest. Mom found the first one in the front yard and then went around back to look for the nest and found the second little guy in the rocks.

So I spent the day outside, chasing two little baby birds around as they tried to escape the grass and get through the fence holes. :o) They're pretty tame though, they were climbing all over dad and even the mama bird sat on dad's hand as she fed them. We ended up hiding them in one of the cedars where the mama bird can get in to them and none of the predators should hopefully find them (esp. if the one labeled the escape artist stays put)

The contest

Results were posted in the RD contest tonight, apparently labeling Sab as a chick-lit cost me a point as did my hook/blurb not being hookish enough. *sigh* So I came in 4th out of 5.
Which means I'm gonna abandon Sab & Lila for awhile. I just don't think I have the energy for those 2 anymore right now.

Another Book...

BABY PROOF by Emily Giffin

This is the first book of Emily's I've read and when I read an excerpt online, I thought it sounded pretty good and somehow with a little luck I ended up with an ARC, which didn't disappoint.

BABY PROOF is about Claudia (and Ben). They meet on a blind date and things are great from the start. They both don't want children, something that Claudia's been firm on since she was a teenager (there's a few mentions of her high school boyfriend asking her about her future at prom and she says no kids...) But when a few years go by and a friend of their's who had the same plan, suddenly ends up with a baby of her own, well now Ben's beginning to think adding a baby to their family might not be a bad idea either. Except Claudia's dead set on never having a baby, which ultimately causes her to leave Ben (don't worry I'm not spoiling anything, all this happens before the midway of the book! hehe)

I really enjoyed this one. Not your typical chick-lit (if that even exists anymore?) with real life characters. There's a good bond between Claudia and her family who fill out some of the supporting cast, along with her best friend Jess.

I do believe its out today!

Why Technology Sucks...

You might remember my tirade of a few weeks ago with Telus' little 7 hour installation. Well, we've now nearly tied that experience. Installing the router and TRYING, TRYING I tell you to put together a home network. Its friggin impossible. I've messed up my laptop so it now requires a password every time i turn it on and had to spend almost 45 minutes in chat with an hp service guy to try and figure out what to do. *sigh* And the network, still doesn't exist... oh the joys...there's a night out of my life I'll never get back again!

The only good thing is the router finally works. Don't know how, because it didn't for the first 3 hours, but somehow between dad and i playing with the settings, something clicked.

Gray & Rainy

Well its gray and rainy here today. Sorta fits the mood. I'm at a total standstill with the writing. Its a mix of things I guess. 8 months straight of this story and I'd like to just chuck it off the nearest bridge. Went to an agent chat with Deidre from the knight agency tonight, apparently chick-lit is fading, on the way out...how ever you want to say it, but no one really wants it. So I guess I now need to find a new label for what was once a paranormal chick-lit.

Other then the writing, nothing too much going 0n. Watched the Oilers game last night. Yay they played Jussi and not Conks, but they lost 5-0. :o( And half those penalties called were complete BS. The guy tries to decapitate Raffi, no call, Oiler does the same thing and he ends up in the box. And it seems like MacT shortened the bench somewhere between midway through the second to midway through the third. Why?? Can't figure that one out. They don't play till Saturday but since the games are back here, it should be interesting. Still have to go enter for tickets to Monday's game. Be cool to go!

And its sent...

With a few minor tweaks (really minor) I copied and pasted the new version into a rtf file, hit attached and then hit send.

See what happens. I'm now in the wonderful mode of second guessing what I did to the blurb (flipflopped a sentence) and making myself crazy. Might have to grab my Mike's Hard Lemonade from the fridge. Could use the break :o)

Thanks for all the emails and comments guys :o) Let you know when I hear anything back!
