Happy Birthday Daddy
Happy Birthday - circa 1982
(not entirely sure the pic was taken on his birthday then, but hey...it was one of the cuter ones I found already scanned. And its the only picture where I look like that lol)

What's Going On...
On the bright side, I found a great new bookshelf. On the not so bright side, its backordered so we'll be checking in at Costco some time this week to see when it shows up.
On the weird side: Costco had their Xmas cards in already yesterday. Didn't buy any yet, but did pick up a cute roll of Snowman wrapping paper (which should keep me in Xmas wrap for the next 20-30 years lol)
On the strange side: Standing in the middle of hallmark looking for a birthday card for my best friend when Incomplete starts playing. Too weird, too wacky and too much of a coincidence.
And on the good side: NHL Hockey is BACK!!! Woohoo. Cannot wait for the schedule to be released next week. With all the expected player moves, it should be interesting to see WHO lands where. *fingers crossed*

What I Did This Weekend...A rambley style post
* Bought all 4 July Bombshells
* Got the new Harry Potter!!!!! :o)
Saturday night a friend of ours came over with his dad and his dad's girlfriend who were visiting from Finland. Was interesting. They didn't speak English, so our friend had to translate. Don't think I'll ever be able to speak Finnish though. Man what a language. Did you know there's only one Finnish word in all of the English language? Sauna.
Doing my usual blog surfing today, found a warning from Deidre Knight. Apparently someone's impersonating her and sending out emails to e-pubs and the like. Click the link below to take a look:

Other than that, nothing much going on. Got a new hard drive for the computer that should go in this week, it'll be a second one for more space. If anyone has two internal drives, did you have to put in another fan? Dad's worried it'll overheat with just the one fan.

Uh Oh...
I think I'm really about to give up on Winning Bid. I just don't see it as workable anymore. I look at the temptation guidelines, I look at WB and I cringe. The characters don't seem to be working, I think I've got too many darn plot devices and the conflict really sucks...and best of all, I've got no clue at all how to fix this mess.
Which brings me to my big point, 28,000 words in, what happens if someone asks what else I have for the Temptation line? And I say nothing...how bad do I look?
I've got an idea for a spinoff with one of the girls from STTA, but isn't that presumptious that the first one would go or they'd even be interested in Ava or Mimi's story???
*sighs*
Off to drown in chocolate because damnit I skipped rope outside in muggy heat this afternoon I deserve it. :o)

Tuesday's Ramble
First, I think I'm going to enter a contest. :o) I've never entered any except in fanfic world, so this should be a brand new experiance for me. Played with the prologue and chapter 1 for HER PROTECTOR and sent it to my bud to look over. Since she's going out of town on Thursday hopefully she'll be able to look at it soon. Then I can get it emailed in or whatever, I'm not exactly clear on the details yet (it was almost 2am when I stumbled across the guidelines)
Still waiting to hear on STTA, today is I think 11 weeks, next week marks the 3 month point. I think its more the where is it now that's getting to me then anything else. If they R it, I do have my back up plan and list of agents to query it on.
Other than that, I've got Winning Bid to finish or try to. Find my idea for the new EPIC line, which is interesting. Not sure whether to try the contest or go right ahead and send the partial when I finally get around to things. Guess that depends on whether I can make the October deadline for that or not. Then I want to get Shattered back in contention shape (strange, I'm rewriting it by hand at night without the hard copy from '99/'01 in front of me and its almost the exact same stuff, just updated by my voice...wacky) and get that out hopefully by the end of the year. Add in somewhere in there my Bombshell and I'm exhausting myself already :o)
Off to catch Big Brother and see who's paired with who!

Some Days Just SUCK
I get up early, I log in to ticketmaster and wait for 10 am to roll around to get tickets. 10:02 it still won't put the damn Calgary show on sale, then I hit refresh for the millionth time and wow, low and behold they're on sale. And there isn't 3 tickets to be found anywhere but the nosebleeds.
However at 10:10 am on EBAY there's DAMN ROW 2 tickets selling for $400 dollars.
Now, where, when, HOW did rows 1-10 suddenly go on sale, because they sure as heck didn't go last week.
So here I sit, 4 hours later ticketless and having the rest of the day from hell.
Apparently my oma moved in with the weird aunt on the weekend without telling a soul in Regina. She neglected to mention it last week when we called her. I swear as far as I'm concerned, I have no relatives.
Lisa's new moral of the story, buy the crap seats at presale and sell them for ungodly prices on ebay then upgrade yourself to the good seats. Because no band no matter how hot can be worth all this.

Exhausted...
Really enjoying it, about halfway through right now (had to take a break and grab some caffeine) and will probably finish it before falling asleep in exhaustion tonight. The prologue grabbed me right off - which few tend to do lately - and Kieran's turning out to be a great - and unique - hero.
Off to check email and head to bed

A Vent On Tickets...
A) If it truly is American Express Front of the Line...WHY do the other two presale options give me the exact same darn seats, minus the $3.75/ticket fee...of which I got the password for free simply because I'm a member of the other two.
B) Why do you advertise the tickets go on sale at 9...then realize its ten...and then let the pages load at 10:02...
C) Why at 10:15 am did the page crash and there were no more tickets until ten minutes later...all up in the nosebleeds. I'm not sitting in a car for 4 hours each way to not even see my men up close thank you very much...
D) Why do the floor seats show up at almost 11 and their 12 rows back...see C for why I'm not taking them...
and E) where the heck are the first 10 rows of seats, if your selling every seat in the presale in row 14, you might as well put some of the first 5 rows up too...
I just hope I have better luck over the next two days or come Monday morning :o/

The Panic
The sheer absolute panic of trying to be one of the first into Ticketmaster to score tickets to a show.
And yet, tomorrow morning at 9 or 10 AM Mountain, I will be attempting just that. Three seats as close as possible to my favorite band...(The closer the better, I'm VERY picky about where I sit at a show)
Wish me luck, I think I'm going to need it. *looks at clock and winces*

Happy Canada Day Eh
So yesterday was Canada Day and unlike a lot of flag waving Canucks I don't quite celebrate it. I prefer to indulge my 1/8 or 1/16 American side at times lol
We got an email from a friend of ours yesterday morning inviting us over so we went over about 9 last night. Was nice, talked for awhile, went outside to watch the fireworks at midnight but didn't see any then headed out to Tim Horton's for a midnight snack. (talk about celebrating in Canuck fashion lol) But since I'm not a big fan of their food, I had a can of coke and an apple fritter.
Then we started talking about my writing *gulp* I always get a little shy talking about my stuff, I don't know why...but he always asks what I write and I say 'romance, women's fic, chick-lit' because I do. I'm somewhere in the mix. So dad mentioned my workshops I gave and he seemed impressed. Whatever *shrug* I'm just way too nervous talking about myself half the time lol *no comments from the peanut gallery thank you :oP *
Anyways, that was the beginning of my long weekend. Fell into bed about 3:30 and slept till noon.
