Books

Went to Chapters last night and browsed through all the new books. Some good ones I didn't write down, but will have to find later. Made me wish I hadn't missed the 4 for 3 sale earlier this month. I still want to pick up the Richard Castle book, but keep forgetting to look for it every time I'm there.

I picked up one bargain YA book but there were a few there that looked tempting. Was going to get Demon Envy since it was marked down to $3.99, but I skimmed through it and thought I'd enjoy one of the others a little more so I grabbed a hardcover Melissa De La Cruz set in Hollywood. Mom bought me the new Elizabeth Taylor bio that focuses on her relationship with Richard Burton. Cannot wait to read that one!

Reminds me, I need to go through the book crates again and organize them. I saw a few books I thought I had, but wasn't 100% sure on.

Any good summer reads? I finished WAKING THE WITCH by Kelley Armstrong and really enjoyed it. I think I'm going to put the Liz Taylor bio next, good change of pace.

Favorites reissued

Totally excited when I saw the link to this on twitter: Babysitter's Clubs books are going to be reissued!!! Sweet, I used to love those books. I don't think I had all 213 but I'm guessing I have a pretty big chunk of them.

I even remember my first one. I'd been doing the summer reading game at the local library and won. The librarian told me to go behind the desk and go through this big box of books and most of them were all Babysitter's Club Special Editions. I had a huge sinking feeling if I took one, I'd be hooked. I was totally right. After that, I was clearing off the bookshelves at the bookstore whenever I had the money. :o)

Can't wait to see the reissues and the prequel. Now if only Sleepover Friends would come back out, all my childhood reading would be revisted. :o)

Books

Well despite the fact the new mail guy is horrible (and apparently didn't show up with any mail yesterday), a surprise managed to make it through to me today.

I have for review...wait for it...

The first two Sweet Valley High books!!!

Apparently they're updating them and re-releasing them. These two come out April 8th. Call me geeky but I'm excited since I've never ever read the series. :o) So yay, more books for the review pile.

What's everyone currently reading? I'm reading Mark Henry's HAPPY HOUR OF THE DAMNED. Great Urban Fantasy, with a high gore factor. Its interesting to read. Next up is, hmmm I'll have to check the list again, but I think its Maggie Marr's series set in Los Angeles. Should be fun!

Book Talk

As I sit here taking my dinner break from a possible WIP (shhh, don't tell my characters they may actually be cooperating, they might take off for parts unknown again) and surrounded by a rather tall pile of books I figured its been awhile since I talked books.

So what all have you read this month?

I managed to make a fairly decent dent in my piles. Enough so that I need to rearrange the bookshelf again, and contemplate finding another spot to put some books. I have an old dresser type thing my dad made me as a kid that if I can get near it might work well :o)

In no particular order (and I so need to update my ehq reading blog), the ones I can remember off the top of my head:

* Strokes of Midnight (harlequin blaze) by Hope Tarr
* Halfway to the Grave - Jeanine Frost
* Tombs of Endearment - Casey Daniels
* Notes from The Backseat by Jody Gehrman

Hot Reads

Decided to post about one of my favorite reads this month.

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of HUNTING THE DEMON by Jaci Burton (squee and happy dance!) After reading the first in the series (SURVIVING DEMON ISLAND) I couldn't wait to read the next. And Jaci does NOT disappoint with HUNTING (releases August 28th, available for pre-order).

IN A WILDERNESS SEETHING WITH SIN AND SEDUCTION, THE CHASE IS ON.

Hunting demons for a living can have its moments. Especially when Shay Pearson’s latest quarry is the gorgeous bronzed surfer who just stepped out of the sea. Uncovering Nic Diavolo’s devilish side could prove Shay’s toughest assignment yet. Because while she’s acting as bait to snatch this sexy bad boy, Nic’s got a plan of seduction no woman—earthly or otherwise–can resist.
Caught between two warring realms, Nic needs to stay alive long enough to figure out who his enemies are. That includes the beautiful hunter who won’t let him out of her sight. And something far worse: A force of evil with an almost unimaginable goal – possessing Nic’s very soul. But the hunt really heats up when a guy who’s hotter than Hades and a woman who’s afraid to love join forces, igniting an inferno of lust and longing that could send them into mortal danger…or straight into each other’s arms…
Hunting The Demon releases August 28th!
Buy at Amazon.comBuy at Barnes & Noble.com
You can read an excerpt of the book on Jaci's site. and read her blog Jaci's Blog here.

****

HUNTING THE DEMON is hotter. Sexier. And with a great sexy hero in Nic.
this one's a pageturner. The chemistry between Nic and Shay is sizzling. I read it over a weekend and if I hadn't had to go out, I would have read it through in one sitting. Seriously its that good.

If you like your paranormal on the dark and sexy side, go pick this one up :o)

Book Talk

When I was out running errands today, looking for Colleen Gleason's RISES THE NIGHT (which I couldn't find and I went everywhere. Either its completely sold out or they never had it in the first place) I was lucky enough to pick up some more books for the TBR pile. So at Wal-Mart I got Lois Winston's LOVE, LIES AND A DOUBLE SHOT OF DECEPTION which wasn't on my booklist but the back blurb sold me. Then I went to Zellers thinking they'd have Colleen's book. Nope. But on the shelves of the $4.99 books I found a bunch of Jill Shalvis books (Seeing Red, Blue Flame, a couple anthology) plus Gemma Halliday's SPYING IN HIGH HEELS, the first in her high heels series. So I walked out of Zellers with the 2 Jill Firefighter books and Gemma's not too mention Rachel Vincent's STRAY (which wasn't a $4.99 book, but they only had left so I grabbed one). So if you're a canuck and are looking for some good books at a nice price, check out Zellers because they had loads. I saw Jenny Crusie, Marianne Mancusi's first book, lots of Stephanie Bond and others. :o)

Anyone else add another tower to their tbr pile this week? On top of these ones, my ehq order came last week. *eeks* I have now spent more on books in 2 weeks than I did for my camoflage capris lol

Book Tour - Murder With Reservations

Elaine Viets

Elaine has suffered a stroke, and while she is recovering remarkably, she will be unable to tour for her May 1 release MURDER WITH RESERVATIONS: A Dead-End Job Mystery. Many authors are stepping up and doing a "Tour" for her. You can find event places and times here, as well as much more information.

Helen Hawthorne has a knack for keeping a low profile. But in South Florida, it's going to get a lot harder to fly under the radar... Working at Sybil's Full Moon Hotel in Fort Lauderdale keeps Helen safe and sane. But when a maid is found dead in a Dumpster, those days just might be over. Dead bodies mean another chance for the cops to find her. To make matters worse, her ex-husband is hot on her trail. Sadly, the cops don't seem to care much about a murdered maid-but they take notice of her coworker's shady story. If Helen doesn't manage to dodge their questions and shake off her ex, it could be checkout time.

Whatcha Reading?

Since I'm brain fried from the write-on challenge (which I'm finally cruising back into after a few days of zilchness) let's talk books. Whatcha reading? Whatcha want to read? :o) My tbb list is long and getting longer the more loops I find myself on lol

Reading --

I'm finishing up THE REST FALLS AWAY by Colleen Gleason. Great historical paranormal. The next in the series comes out in June and I'm already looking forward to it. Fun book to read.

Just picked up Lori Wilde's THERE GOES THE BRIDE after reading the excerpt. I realized looking at the bookshelf the other day I seem to have a bunch of bridal lit now, which I found funny. I do sort of have an idea lurking at the back of my mind that's semi bridal, so see if this sparks that anymore.

Books I'm looking forward to picking up --

The new Jill Shalvis book, SMART AND SEXY is top of my must buy list. Its out now but haven't found it yet. Its the start of a new series. There's a great excerpt up on her site if you want to take a look.

Deidre Knight's third book in her Parallel Series comes out next week, can't wait for that. I'm planning on reading books 2 & 3 back to back. Unless I find book #1, then I'll read the three :)

Other than that, I'm still trying to spot Alyssa Day's Atlantis Rising so I can pick it up and there was one other para which I can't think of.

Book Talk

Since I've been getting a lot of great books in the mail this week (and I bought three last weekend -- Innocence & Impropriaty by Diane Gaston; the newest Jo Leigh and Shopaholic and Sister by Sophie Kinsella all as a reward for when I finish the edits! *g*) I thought I'd ask what everyone's reading lately and if you're not reading, what are you looking forward to picking up?

On my list for the month:

* Atlantis Rising by Alyssa Day
* Remember The Alimony (saw it at wal-mart last wknd and didn't pick it up, kicking myself now lol)
* The Nymph King by Gena Showalter
* Succubus Blues
* Dead and Dateless (though I can't remember the release date)
* Speed Dating (harlequin nascar book)

couple others that aren't coming to mind.

Color Me Stupid

Little rant because I feel so stupid right now.
I had the last 8 bombshell books in my shopping cart on ehq for the last 2 weeks, and didn't put the order through. Went today to order and they aren't there. None of the BS books are listed on the site.
So now, my collection is almost complete minus the last 7-8 books.
*hits head on desk* I have to hope if I go out tomorrow I can at least track down the 1 or 2 of the last 4.
